Import & Export of Data Tables

OVERVIEW

It is possible to maintain Data Tables outside of CPQ Cloud, such as in Excel (.CSV) and other file formats. You can import Data Tables and their schema directly into CPQ Cloud.

Before uploading a Data Table, follow the instructions for setting up your .CSV file with the appropriate meta data tags.

ClosedPreparing a .CSV file for Import

  1. Open your Excel file or create your Data Table in the .CSV file format.
  2. Enter _start meta data into cell A1.
  3. Use Row 2 for your Column Headers and Row 3 for the Data Type.
    1. Data types need to be either String, Integer or Float. The first letter of the data type must be capitalized, or your import will fail
  4. Enter _end meta datainto cell A5.
  5. Populate your table. It should look like this:

  6. Save the file as a .CSV file format.
    1. The name of your file will also be the name of your Data Table when it is imported into CPQ Cloud. If a table of the same name already exists, the data will append to the existing file.

      Data table names can only contain alpha-numeric values and underscores. White space is not accepted.

ClosedImporting a .CSV Data Table

Once you have properly created your .CSV file, begin the import to CPQ Cloud.

  1. ClosedNavigate to the Data Table Administration page.
    1. Click Admin to go to the Admin Home Page.

    2. Click Data Tables in the Developer Tools section.

      The Data Table Administration page appears.

  2. From the Admin Toolbar, click File and select Import from the drop-down.

    The Import Table Data dialog box appears.

    1. Next to the File Path field, click Browse and search for your Data Table.
    1. Select your Column Delimiter. The default, and the most commonly used setting, is Comma.
    1. Select Newline as the Row Delimiter, or select the Other radio button and enter a value.
    1. For Data with Delimiter, select MS Excel .csv format.
    2. In the Destination Folder drop-down, select where you would like to store the Data Table.

      The list of folders reflects the available folders in your deployment.

    1. Click Import.

        The Data Table, based on the File Name and the Destination Folder, is displayed in the Folder list in RED, meaning it has not been deployed.

  1. Deploy the table using one of the following options.

    • Click Deploy when you have a Data Table open.
    • Right-click on the Data Table name and click Deploy.
    • Double-on the Data Table name to open the table so you can verify data as well as click Deploy.

To stop a .CSV Data Table Import that is currently running, click Cancel on the Status message, shown below.


ClosedExporting .CSV Data Tables

You can make changes to a Data Table and then export the Table, as a .CSV file, to your work station.

  1. ClosedNavigate to the Data Table Administration page.
    1. Click Admin to go to the Admin Home Page.

    2. Click Data Tables in the Developer Tools section.

      The Data Table Administration page appears.

  2. Select one table, or hold down the Ctrl button and click multiple tables. Selected tables will be highlighted. for Export.
  3. Right-click on any highlighted Data Table or, from the Admin Toolbar, click File and select Export from the drop-down.

    1. Your file or files will be zipped and sent to your computer.


NOTES

If your Table has Natural Keys, you can select rows of data to delete instead of just upsert. For more information, see the section "Natural Keys and .CSV Import" in Natural Keys.
